Banana Dosa - Guest Post 6

After a gap for few months I am back with my guest series. Today's guest is Anusha Joshi.

When Anusha wrote a feedback for the first time on F and C's FB page, it was heartwarming to read her comment "had tried making them so many times but never came up with good results... this time they have come really nice spongy and soft... I think your recipes are lucky for me :) "  ... This was about the rasgullas, she had tried preparing following the recipe here. Since the inception of Flavors and Colors, she has been supportive trying different recipes and providing me with her genuine feedback.

Though initially it was virtual acquaintance, later I got to know that she knew me even before Flavors and Colors ! It was actually a friend of my hubby who is related to Anusha and there we got connected. I am happy to have found a friend in her who is a mom to an infant now. What I appreciate in her is her enthusiasm and her own creative touch to different recipes. Check the below photo [chocolate cake with ganache prepared by her] and you will be left drooling, thinking how you can grab that plate.

Over to my guest today,

Hello foodies, I am Anusha and love cooking ! My cooking hobby started after I got married and my cooking inspiration is none other than Aparna akka. Her clicks made me crazy about cooking and photography. Getting to share the below recipe in her blog is like an honor for me and I would like to thank her for giving me this opportunity.

The recipe is for a sweet dosa [my favourite ;)], which you can have at breakfast or can be a great idea to pack in lunch box.

Pomegranate Sheera - Guest Post 5

Month of May, 2nd week of this month and Monday here. Time to welcome our guest Archana Shenoy.

Archana is a great cook and I am always in awe of the photos that she takes of her preparations. All her clicks have the power to pull and tempt audience to try the recipes. Lauki dal was one such tasty recipe and I am glad I attempted it after which its prepared often at my place. During my Abudabhi trip that happened in month of March, I was fortunate to meet her in person with her beautiful family. When we met, the feeling was as if we have known each other since long. Lots of chit chat for 2 hrs and we didn't realize the time that passed away. I got super excited when she expressed the dream to come up with her own blog where she would like to share her passion. All the best Archana and hoping that your dream turns into a reality soon, so that we can feast with our eyes.

Amongst many of her food posts, pomegranate sheera had really caught my attention not just because of the clicks but because I liked the idea of adding pomegranate juice in the recipe, making it nutritious and colouricious. I have prepared sheera but with pineapple, apple, saffron, etc... using pomegranate juice was something new to me. When I messaged her to share her preparation with readers here, she happily agreed. So let's hear from her about this sheera.

My Guest Post @ Rendez Vous With a Foodie

"Rendez Vous with a foodie" is an event hosted by Priya on her blog Priya's Versatile Recipes. This event has been running successfully till now and you can read through the list of her guests here. This month I get an opportunity to be guest in this event and share about my blogging space.

Apt to her blog name, Priya is indeed a versatile cook/blogger who has shared many interesting recipes varying from traditional foods, to fusion foods and healthy innovations. The first recipe that caught my attention was her guest post on Aps Kitchen sharing Pumpkin and red rice flakes kheer. I liked it and attempted this healthy kheer immediately which my family loved it. She is an expert baker and has the longest baking list I have come across till date.If you notice most of her posts carry one beautiful photo about the dish with minimal or no props and its the napkin placement around each dish that I like very much. These napkin placements only made me realize that she has another blog named Cook Eat N Click where she shares easy to make recipes. She has always inspired me to try and beautifully place these napkins while clicking food photos besides her innovative recipes. Happy to have known her through this platform and all my best wishes Priya, to carry on with good work. Thanks for being so supportive, encouraging and giving chance to new bloggers through this event.

Now coming to the dish, I opted to share about Papaya pudding, an incredibly easy to make dessert that can be relished guilt-free!

Bhapa Doi Cheesecake - Guest Post 4

Days pass by so quickly, same thing applies to week. As soon as they begin they end especially the weekends ~ there is never enough time to do all things that needs to be done. First quarter of 2014 already gone and month of April soon touching its mid-mark point.  Phew! Every time I think and try to manage my time efficiently, I end up wishing for more hours in a day... does that happen to you ? While checking my to do list for the coming week, I suddenly realized its 2nd Monday of the month and I need to post the 4th session in my guest post series.

So friends, today I would like to introduce my friend Jayashri Baleri on Flavors and Colors. I met Jay on FB food group. Initial interactions were just related to our recipe posts. Her posts have been inspiring with interesting recipes always and classy presentations that will never fail to tantalize your tastebuds. Many times I have tried her recipes like for Besan Laddoos and Badam Burfis and have been successful with the results. After about 6 mnths time, we became friends, started exchanging messages and in no time our wavelength matched. Now we are close friends as if we have known for years interacting on topics other than recipes. Though our paths crossed on a virtual platform, I am glad to have found a wonderful, loving person like her and hope to meet her in person in near future.

Jay is popular on our food group as a dessert queen, who amazes and tempts all of us everytime with her perfect desserts posts! So when I asked her to be my guest she happily agreed. I was super duper excited to see the recipe of Bhapa doi cheesecake being shared by her. I know you want me to stop here as I can imagine your excitement to read through her recipe and drool over those tempting pics.

KOOTTUCURRY/ ERISHERY - GUEST POST 3

Its a 2nd Monday of this month and here I am having my guest on Flavors and Colors. Did you all realize that I posted my previous guest posts for Jan and Feb on Mondays in the second week of the month. I thought to continue with same pattern. Today with this 3rd session, its my dear friend Priya R Shenoy who is always cheerful, bubbly and very enthusiastic person. I got to know her [again no guesses here], through a food group. A real FOODIE [hope Priya doesn't pinch me for that mention in caps;)]. She is an expert in North Kerala cuisine. Having said that, she also enjoys trying out various recipes from other cuisines and comes out with mouthwatering dishes. With her keen interest, she manages to cook many dishes in a day and so has been nicknamed as "Express Queen" in our group. Today she shares the recipe of dish which she loves and is her speciality. This is what Priya had to say in her words -

I am so happy today to do this guest post. Excited, this being a new experience for me and bit nervous too bcoz it's Appu's blog Flavors and Colors. We follow her blog regularly and I have tried so many recipes from here. So when she recently asked to write a guest post here it was nothing less than any oscar for me. Thank you so much dear for this opportunity and honour!

About me, I am a housewife, mother of two cute kids, now settled in Trivandrum. Being born and brought up in Kanhangad (North Kerala), naturally my love towards Kerala cuisine is huge and all my recipes and taste is largely influenced by this cuisine.

Today I share the recipe of a dish " Koottucurry or Erishery" from North Kerala, to be specific from Kanhangad. It is a side dish served with rice and a must curry for every malayali feast. This dish is very close to my heart, because from my childhood days I always loved this curry and now it's a favourite one of my hubby too :). The unique combination of black chana, raw banana [preferably the kerala plaintain) and yam makes this dish tastes heavenly.

Happy Makar Sankranti, Botnevri Kheeri - Guest Post 1

After displaying my collection of books here bought during my last trip, today I would like to mention about my recent and priceless addition to Konkani/ Amchi cuisine and that is "The Konkani Saraswat Cuisine" book. Though the FB page of the book mentioned its availability through Sapna Book House in Bangalore, I tried to meet the author, Mrs Asha Satish Philar and was lucky enough to get an autographed book from her. It was like dream come true meeting her, holding her hands, talking to her and the excitement got dugna when we [me and family] got to relish some delicious snacks and goodies prepared by aunty herself.
